Dream is dancing to the music. Well, he’s trying to. Mostly he’s tossing his head from side to side as he sways with the broom in his hands akin to something Hob has seen in an 80s film.

Summary
Hob vows to remember every single face, every queer couple he served tea to, because he never wants their memory to fade away. Their families have buried them, forced them into loveless marriages, but Hob will always know them as who they were when they walked into his front door asking for a picture.
He remembers Arthur’s snort laugh every time John would try to crack a joke. He remembers holding Mary as she sobbed to him about the engagement her parents forced her into after finding out about her and Jade. He remembers Fitzwilliam, who seemed to know that he was loved by Hob, but wasn’t really the one he loved. Not wholeheartedly.
He remembers, because if he doesn’t, who will?
Hob's favorite invention is the camera and the subjects of his photographs remind him what love is supposed to be.

The hard part about being immortal is that it's hard to form really close relationships with anyone. Makes sense, then, that in a world where people share dreams with their soulmate from the moment they meet, Hob would be the only person who's been dreaming alone all his life.
(Well, as alone as can be, when he spends every night in a wonderful dreamland, with stretched out fields and magical villages and a beautiful castle looming out over him.)

There are two people in the entire world who have the number of the prepaid burner phone that’s been burning a hole through Hob’s pocket for far longer than it ought to. That's going on four years now. Four years, two people in the world, and it’s never once rung. Until it does.
Hob gets a long awaited phone call signaling that his oldest friend is alive, and he's back, and he's carving a bloody path through London’s underbelly as he takes his revenge. The transatlantic flight home gives him plenty of time to replay what memories he has of his stranger before he up and vanished. What he finds is a violent terf war, his stranger a bit more feral, maybe, but it's familiar enough to ache.

Dream is invited to Hob’s department holiday party. Thank goodness Matthew is there to tell him what being a plus-one means, as well to help him realize that unbeknownst to either of them, they seem to have been going on a myriad of Hallmark movie style dates. With a new ending to their story in mind, Dream heads to the soirée, but when the narrative presents an opportunity to save Hob from an awful outcome in the date auction, while also revealing his feelings, will he get his movie-perfect ending?

Summary
Hob Gadling had worked as a professor in London for some years. It had always been the same routine each semester, each day. Every day he returns to the same flat, the same deafening silence.
After several years at the university, Hob meets a strange colleague. Something feels familiar about him, but it is impossible that they know each other. Hob would have remembered the mysterious and shut-off stranger had they met before. He would know of he had run into the same emotional walls before as he tried to strike up a conversation with the entirely disinterested man.
