    Pete still remembers the second Bill dropped the lighter, the second when he looked at him with that familiar glimpse in his eye. He knew it all too well- Bill would give him that look whenever he was planning to do something that he'd always regret.
    And he did.
    It had been almost ten years since that incident, since Pete had to go to physical therapy for the burns and bruises that he suffered from Bill's attack. His mom had forbidden him from hanging out with his group of friends. It upset him at the time, but he realized it was probably the right thing. The rest of the group was bad enough, but Bill was an absolute douchebag. He had broken his nose and kicked his ass countless times, and Pete had let it slide. Not because he liked him, because he didn't have anyone else.
    He hoped it would stay that way.
