At that, Mydei’s lip curled from its frown into the slightest, lazy smile and hope sparked in Phainon’s chest. Of course Mydei would recognise him even like this. So long as Mydei knew the truth, he could contact Cipher or Anaxa and surely their individual specialisations would be able to—
“You are a noisy one, aren’t you?” Mydei teased.
Ah. That was a bit of an issue. Mydei didn’t recognise him after all. That was fine. A minor setback really. Phainon had overcome worse odds before. He could do it again! Even in the body of a chimera.
Through a bit of Zagreus’ trickery attached to a mirror, Phainon takes on the appearance of a chimera and spends the day with Mydei. Despite how humiliating it is, Phainon is relieved that no one can understand him and figure out his true identity while he waits to return to normal.
After all, only people who receive a blessing of Cerces can understand chimera speech. And no one else. Right?

There was no going back on accepting Cipher’s company, a fact that he was met with once again as she emerged from the bathroom. They’d just have to deal with the third person for however long it took, and Mydei wouldn’t get mad.
Would he get even?
Absolutely.
Phainon extends a house invite without consulting Mydei first, Mydei refuses to let him off the hook, and Cipher is none the wiser.
Though... maybe not.
