Retired Auror Alastor Moody discovers the body of a known criminal outside the Knockturn Alley office where he runs a private investigation business. Although he calls in the Aurors, he can't keep from looking into the case himself. He follows the few leads he can find, but lead to dead ends. Finally, he tries rattling a cage, then staking out the crime scene.

Verity works in a Diagon Alley Shop and has a great deal of fun at her job, but her dream is elsewhere. Any time she can, she spends her nights drumming in clubs - mostly Muggle ones, at that - trying to get her big break.
