Robin poked Nancy in the chest gleefully.
Nancy gaped, momentarily speechless. Then she saw red.
“That’s ridiculous. No I do not.”
Nancy’s voice came out shriller than she would have liked - cracking with indignation in a way that was maybe not the most intimidating. Fuck.
OR: Nancy's an omega with some serious hang-ups about what that's supposed to mean. She only bottoms when she's in heat and that's how she likes it.
...Unless?
(This is technically a follow up to we shake the frame of your car - that story has the initial character/relationship/plot building blocks, but this one is written to be readable on its own as an established relationship oneshot.)

Summary
When Robin caught Chrissy and Nancy whispering earlier, this wasn’t exactly where she thought it was going to go. She really didn’t think anything of it at all, it was probably just a joke between the two of them.
But then when they were watching the movie, Nancy got up to go to the bathroom, coming back in just a tank top and panties. Robin brushed it off then, it was typical that Nancy slept like that, so she was just getting comfortable. A few minutes later, Chrissy went to the bathroom and came back in her pajamas too, a nightdress that was slightly seethrough underneath the bust.
It was so normal that Robin almost considered leaving to go get into some of her more comfortable clothes, or at least take off her bra.
or: Nancy and Chrissy make a plan to seduce Robin, and it works.

It was New Years Eve and Vecna was dead and gone and Joyce Byers was hosting a party at the house she and Chief Hopper had picked up on a the-whole-town-was-almost-swallowed-into-hell discount, and Robin finally understood Nancy's hair.
Robin had gotten there late. Not late-late, not midnight late. But she and Steve had worked a closing shift and headed over after, and it was ten o'clock and everybody old enough to drink was already looking a little loose. And apparently Nancy was among those old enough to drink, and apparently so was Robin, because she found herself with a beer in her hand before she'd even gotten her coat all the way off. And she took a big sip of it without even thinking, because she saw Nancy's hair before she saw the rest of her, and then she saw the rest of her, and then she finished her beer in one more sip.

Summary
At 30 years old, Nancy comes to an understanding about herself, one that she denied for the entirety of her marriage. Her marriage to a good man, a great dad, and the best of friend. So, when she tells him, she's met with nothing but support. Just one problem. She may are may not be beginning to address residual feelings for his best friend while acknowledging that actually going for it could make everything in her entire life implode. She enacts a tactic she's been using for so long: deny, deny, deny. Although, she isn't in the mood to deny anymore. Now, she's a person who embraces who she is, what she wants, and going for it.

Was Nancy wheeler flirting with her? “Don’t tell me a little flirting is getting you all hot and bothered, Buckley?” She said, hair falling down around her head like the cover of trees as she stared into Robin’s eyes. She was even closer than before.
