Alex pulls away and Henry jolts back into his surroundings, head swimming. Space grows between them and Henry stands rooted to the pavement as cars whizz past, eyes glued to Alex’s face.

“Tell me to stop,” Alex murmurs, his voice teasing, lips trailing along Henry’s jaw, down the column of his neck, and biting his milky skin into marks that will surely be visible tomorrow. His other hand grips Henry’s waist tightly, pinning him in place.
Henry doesn’t tell him to stop. Instead, he yanks Alex’s face and crashes their mouths together again, their kiss all hot and hungry. “Don’t you dare,” he breathes out between kisses, his hands sliding down Alex’s back, pulling him even closer.
Or: Being friends with benefits shouldn't matter. But when Henry gets jealous, it starts to matter.

Summary
He hates that Alex can see all the ugly parts of him now, knows how weak and stupid he is, instead of the strong and reliable friend he’s tried to be for the last five years, since Henry moved here and accidentally stole Alex’s favourite spot at their local coffee shop.
“I’m sorry…” Henry says eventually, when he can’t stand the silence for a moment longer. It’s maybe the longest he’s ever known Alex to voluntarily be quiet for, and by the five minute mark it’s unnerving him.
“Hey,” Alex replies, reaching over to curl his uninjured fingers around Henry’s wrist, pressing lightly against the pulse point there, “you’ve got nothing to apologise for. Not ever, but especially not this, alright?”

OR: The first time it happens is an accident, the second time Patrick is drunk and swears it'll never happen again. The third time, Alex breaks his nose.
