Jordan hears their thoughts as they pick up pace, slowly but surely. The pretense of sleep sheds off them like a sluice of shower water.
Ah, alright, they think to themself, as they unravel their body from the thin blanket, pulling each sweat-sheened inch of skin out of the cot.
“One of those days?” a sleepy voice to the side of them mumbles as they drag themselves wearily to their feet.
“Seems so,” Jordan responds, sotto voce, without turning to look at the speaker.
