Summary
It's possible that Hermione Granger has feelings for her co-worker Draco Malfoy—entirely inappropriate feelings given that said co-worker is the boss' son. He has feelings for her too. They both know better, but are unable to help themselves.
It's a harmless game... until it isn't.
***
The Long Game is written entirely from Hermione's POV. It's a character study in which I attempt to dissect her ambitiousness, her fears around loving and being loved, and how those two things conflict with each other as she becomes more entangled with Draco and, subsequently, his friends, family and the family business. This is a grown up, morally complex Hermione navigating the world of ruthless office politics in an alternate modern universe resembling the corporate backdrops of TV shows like Succession and Industry.

Summary
As part of a campaign to revitalize small rural Italian towns, Rey purchases a house in Sicily for a dollar. Only, it's never as good as it's made out to be, and as costs rise and renovation plans are expected, Rey has no choice but to rely on a local contractor for help.
Or: She's fired and left on the brink of homelessness in less than a week. You try making a rational decision under that stress.

Summary
Following a failed pickpocket attempt, a fall from some stage rafters, and an audition that she never imagined in her wildest dreams, Mare Barrow, street felon by day and wistful ballerina by night, one day finds herself as a dancer for Manhattan's prestigious Calore Dance Academy, owned by the filthy-rich Calore clan. More than that, her partner is Maven Calore, one of the Calore brothers himself. And the pickpocket attempt, of course, was on Maven's older brother and the heir to the Academy, Tiberias "Cal" Calore. Naturally, he orchestrated the whole incident.
A paradigm rags-to-riches success story unfolds, and as the seventeen-year-old climbs up the levels of social class, she dances a dangerous game of love and betrayal when lies are told and secrets are revealed. The gang Mare belongs to, the Scarlet Street Fighters, and the Calore clan are brutal enemies, and the girl, simple as the blood in her veins, is caught right in the crossfire of their bloody war. Mare soon discovers that the Calore family not only has a passion for ballet dancing, but an obsession for power and money. It seems that the Calores control everything, including her own life.
