Summary
Lan Wangji has no idea why he is accompanying Wei Wuxian part of the way back to Yunmeng. These are starting to look like troubling times, he supposes, considering the rising conflict with the Wen clan, but he has learned very well lately that Wei Wuxian is a highly accomplished and skilled cultivator – no matter how much Wei Wuxian likes to present himself like an easy-going, uncultured, almost unmannered youngster who plays pranks on Lan Wangji and bothers him with a million things. But oh, all those little things with which he nags Lan Wangji… maybe they do actually impress him.
Or: On a hot, hot summer day when they are seventeen, one thing leads to another and Lan Wangji finds himself tumbling around with Wei Wuxian in the green grass somewhere en route to Yunmeng, only mother nature watching them lose any restraint – and that more than once.
