Summary
“someone will remember us
I say
even in another time”The stranger’s eyes were hidden in shadow beneath their enormous hat, and Quiglan had no inkling of what other secrets they concealed.
“What,” said the stranger from their seat on the rock,
“Is a blade without one’s will to fight within it?”
Quiglan snorted a shallow breath, for he knew this answer well.“Then, what is a tale without one to tell it?”
Quiglan’s eyes widened, for he had not spread the knowledge of his exploits himself.
Wherever he went he was already known, as if all waiting had some knowledge of the Champion’s tale beforehand. The stranger smiled their enigmatic smile, lacing their hands together.
“So,” they said evenly,“I would like to hear your tale from your own voice.”
