    “Severus?” Albus inquires gently, attempting to catch his attention.

    Severus isn’t able to meet his eyes, isn’t able to move. In a terrifying moment of weakness, he feels stuck in time, and thinks that if he so much as breathes he’ll disrupt something so immensely it would be irreversibly damaged.
