Summary
Elanor Fife had always been defined by responsibilities.
From a very young age, duty shaped the course of her life. It carried her through loss, through hardship, and through years in which she allowed herself little beyond the obligations she had sworn to uphold. Over time these responsibilites became the only thing she lived for.
Simon Hastings has known this about her for as long as he can remember.
Raised under the same roof ,he had watched Elanor carry burdens that were never meant for someone so young. Now, as he prepares to step into his role as Duke, he begins to see something she refuses to acknowledge—that a life ruled entirely by duty leaves little room for anything else.
Least of all happiness.
But breaking habits forged by years of sacrifice is no easy task. As expectations grow heavier and the demands of society close in around them, Elanor must face a question she has avoided all her life:
Will she continue walking the path she has always chosen—
or finally allow herself to want something more?
