    Summary

It’s beautiful,” he’d said when his hand had slid away from the heavy handle of the inner chamber in order to run across the lattice patterning upon the covering cloth. It was a little thing and it covered a little table designed for dice, but the craftsmanship could not be denied. He focused on it because his legs had locked up too badly for him to turn around when the gentle creak of the door registered in his ears —louder than the spark of powder. “We’ll have to play sometime.

And here I was hoping we could play now.

    Summary

A small collection of shorts told from Gwynsen’s perspective that focus on either a friendship, a budding interest, or something else entirely with Ornstein. They are all set before the events of Parasthesia, as non-chronological snapshots. The tags include warnings for every short, but each story will specify its warnings in its own notes. More will be added as they're edited.

In which various moments in time wind up forming the basis of Gwynsen's relationship with one particular honorary Lord...

    Summary

Henry’s first indication that things were going to go sideways should’ve been that Hans wouldn’t stop fidgeting in the saddle. He kept looking up and down the empty road as he chatted away about nothing in particular, thumbs passing over the bight of his reins with repetitious fervence, as if they couldn’t find it in themselves to still. Despite how fine the atmosphere of that sunny summer day was, Henry could not help but become somewhat suspicious that their hunting trip —the first of its kind since their recent return to Rattay—was about to take a bit of a nosedive.

Come to think of it, perhaps all the fidgeting was a secondary indication… Really, his first massive, glaring golden sign should’ve been the fact that Hans purposefully selected the wrong horse.

    Summary

“Well, well, well,” came the man’s grating tone, not unlike the scrape of a thousand little jagged rocks to inebriated ears. “What’ve we got here?”

“What do you want?” Hans’ voice didn’t suggest that he was terribly impressed with the unwarranted intrusion either. Henry nodded his curt agreement, hoping that the overt —if not disconcertingly mobile—staleness of his facial features would convey his distaste. He'd have crossed his arms to emphasize this if the floor wasn't waving about below his boots.

“See, I just find myself wondering,” Hynek replied, having come to rest a palm upon an adjacent table. His eyes were aglow within their sockets with the glint of mischief, and already, Henry did not want to hear whatever the robber baron was about to divulge.

    Summary

“This isn’t just about what we ate, is it?” Hans’ tone was quiet when he spoke into his ear. Henry nodded in a dull manner, and the world shut itself away for a strange beat when his eyes slid closed. Then there was only the subtle whistle of the wind, patches of sunlight tracing indents into his forehead and ear with just as much warmth as Pebbles’ hide against his legs.

    “No, it isn’t."

    Summary

Stationed in the heart of Anor Londo at the seeming height of the Age of Fire, knight Captain Ornstein found himself noticing that all was not as it should have been. Caught in the crossfire between the Crown Prince's mounting tensions with the Lord Father and struggling to hold up the cracking foundations of an era that was not as perfect as it once was, a curious death and its subsequent investigation set into motion a series of spiraling events that brought the fate of Lordran into question. Though only a lesser Lord himself, Ornstein was determined to utilize his unique position to find the truth before time slipped away through his fingers —provided he was able to stifle the strange sensation taking root within the pit of his fractured soul.

This is a completed, revamped pre-canon novel that concerns the sharp decline of the Age of Fire, largely told from Ornstein's perspective. It has its own self-contained lore, utilizes three distinct dialects and separates Lords into two defined classes. Thank you all!

    Summary

“I shall still be a Prince when next the sun sets, so I care not what they believe.”

The knight Captain set back upon a metal heel with a stark lack of amusement at that, finding the flagrant comment to be distasteful. His dominant left came up after a beat, and he pointed in the direction of the nearest door.

In which Ornstein decides to take matters into his own hands when the Crown Prince doesn’t receive the warm welcome they’d both anticipated…

    Summary

The Great Lord was more glorious, bold, bright and righteous than any painting, tale or ballad could ever do Him justice, and He was so much so that these things —these feelings from memories that fueled entire miracles—were some of the precious few that had not abandoned Ornstein’s recollection after he had become autonomous. They formulated the purest definition of righteousness and what it meant to be divine in the lesser Lord’s eyes.

And yet somehow, Gwynsen was nothing like that.

In which Ornstein finds himself in occupation of a fort, and the Crown Prince's unexpected attention...
