“Don’t marry him.”
The words come out like poison from Nick’s mouth. He didn’t even know why he said it. Charlie was happy and visibly so. On the other hand, the words strike Charlie like daggers, his mind muddling as he turns toward the blonde. “What?” Charlie’s eyebrows were knit together, clearly seeking clarification from the other. The three words were hushed and quick, yet Charlie’s mind was already drowning.

Summary
Whatever it is Nick sees in Alex, he’s determined to see it, too. After all, it wouldn’t be fair to Nick for him to show up in Leeds and blow up his friend group over a few bad jokes.
Still, when Alex passes Charlie on the way to the kitchen and gives his backside a stealthy pat, Charlie knows he’ll have to talk to Nick about what Alex said, and how it made him feel.
But as long as he proves he tried with Alex, Nick won’t be upset or disappointed.
