Barely five minutes passed before there was a knock on the door. Bucky padded across the apartment and met his boyfriend who he hadn’t called waiting on the other side. Sam was wearing the wings and he was slightly out of breath, signaling that this was a last minute trip. Before Bucky could react, Sam had him crushed in his arms. He could feel him shaking.
“I saw you walk into that darkness,” Sam whispered, his voice light and frail. Bucky had never heard him sound so…breakable. “I thought you were dead.”
Bucky hugged him back, reveling in the comforting weight of his lover. “I’m not dead, doll. I’m right here.”
OR immediately following Valentina's announcement, Bucky leaves to get his wits together. Of course, his boyfriend finds him.
