Not once a year...but def a fic I want to keep track of.
I am usually a big fan of non linear narratives, but this one kind of threw me for a loop. I did love the angsty stuff from Rodney (mostly from misunderstandings).

I like this story but also have thinky thoughts about it. As it is, it feels kind of gross for John to accept Rodney without a large amount of conversation and understanding. This isn't a world where everyone acknowledges that there are shape shifting humans, this is a world where John is an anomaly. So when Rodney says his type is humans he doesn't mean it in a way where he has so many damn options and humans are one of them. He means that John is someone who is lesser. Who doesn't have humanity.
And John just puts up with it.
On the other hand I could be reading this wrong and Rodney just is a little squicked out by the idea and blurts out something that later he knows to be ridic. He does try to help John and isn't a total ass through the whole story.I don't think I will read this very often but I have more thinky thoughts and I want to keep track of this story until I sort them out.
