Chrom raises a gloved hand, he hadn’t had a chance to change out of his armor, he’d paced the grounds of his tent since they’d come back from battle that night, and thought about what he shouldn’t be doing, about what he shouldn’t want, about if there was any way to overcome his desire with something honest and pure, but the guilt wasn’t enough, isn’t, and his hand ends up against the back of her neck, a breath, not yet a gasp, not quite surprise, but something not totally normal passes her parted lips and he inches closer, shivering, hesitant.
There’s something wrong with him. Had been for a while, but he’d never felt it stronger than now, then pulling himself into that patch of her skin above her chest, the sternum, that scent, the scar right below her collarbone, he knows that one, had seen it bleed and patched it, and pressed his nose into the bandage when he’d found it at the top of a waste bin.

There was no honour in it, sure, but it was the truth of the thing.
She would allow him his final betrayal. She would accept it; forgive it as the price of loving him.
