“You, uh, you got a gin preference?” Caitlyn furrowed her brow. “You just… you look like you’d have a gin preference.”
Not sure whether she should be offended, but eager to dispel any preconceived notions, Caitlyn shrugged. “Well is fine.”
Vi chuckled. “Oh. Oh, I can assure you, it most certainly is not.” She reached beneath her and lifted a large bottle simply labeled “Gin” in a nondescript font. “It basically tastes like brake fluid from a '76 Ford Fiesta that once drove by some juniper.”
“Hmm.” The corner of Caitlyn’s mouth lifted slightly. “Dealer’s choice, then.”
Vi is a bartender/barista coping with economic insecurity and a lifetime of repressed trauma, Caitlyn is a war veteran coping with PTSD and the recent loss of her mother. Ultimately, this is a story about healing. Allowing themselves to be seen and loved, they reopen old wounds to heal from the inside out.

“You wanted a reaction,” Caitlyn said. “And you got one.”
“Did I?”
“Yes,” she snapped. “You knew exactly where I was standing all night. You knew I was watching you.”
“I did,” Vi said, frustratingly smug. “The whole time.”
Caitlyn swallowed. “And you were watching me too, you know.” Her arms were still crossed, but the posture felt flimsy now.
Vi hesitated and leaned closer, voice low and rough. “I know you liked it.”
“You don’t get to decide what that meant,” Caitlyn scoffed.
Vi laughed quietly, humorlessly. “Then tell me, cupcake. What did it mean?”
OR
Caitlyn and Vi can't get along. One night at a bar is apparently all it takes to break the tension.

Summary
Caitlyn barely endures seeing so many girls leave Vi's room. Always infuriatingly satisfied.
It takes some time, but one day her patience runs thin. One of those girls has the audacity to rave over how well Vi was able to fuck her."I just mean, if I have to listen all morning to how well you put those muscles to use, it's a little hard to look at them now."
"As in, it's too gross seeing me that way?"
"No, Vi. Surely you know what I mean."
"No, I don't. Tell me."
Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't do it.
"It's just not that nice seeing you choose all these women that look like me... But never me." Caitlyn stands up, not willing to see the reaction on Vi's face.
But Vi steps towards her. "Do you want me to choose you?", her tone urgent.
"Vi, please, don't make this harder for me than it already is."
There is barely any space left between them and it still feels like Vi takes a step forward. Caitlyn's breath hitches.
