Summary
Until now, Joel and Tommy had always done their best to avoid Joel being away during the darker hours, as Ellie regularly suffers from panic attacks and night terrors. Yet the day before, one of the men usually affected to night watch had an accident while helping fixing the fence. Joel being one of the best and most senior fighters of Jackson, there was no other choice but to have him fill in. Tommy and Joel manage to get Ellie a walkie-talkie so she can speak to Joel if she's afraid.
She is, although she won't admit it.
Joel knows, though, and devises a plan to get her to sleep...

Summary
As Ellie and Joel camp for the night in a small forest cave, Ellie has the good idea to jump into the nearby stream. When night falls, she starts freezing, and Joel has no other choice than to try and warm her up with his own body. As he hugs her for the first time since they met, they both realize how touch-starved they are, and yet fear the other to know. They cannot deny, though, that this is the beginning of something that might change their lives forever.
