Pain radiates from his wrist, where Kacchan’s hand is clamped. Midoriya gasps though his teeth, but it’s the wrong thing to do. Kacchan’s scowl deepens, and he sets off another explosion. Midoriya finally screams, and he lets go, pulling away strings of melted polyester.
His wrist aches deep to the bone, but the surface burns with every breeze and movement.
It’s always Kacchan.
Always fucking Kacchan.
Everything that drives the boy is volatile and mercurial and even if Midoriya thinks he’s got one piece figured out the next day what should’ve worked yesterday is getting his ass pummeled.
