His hair was styled in the ponytail he had stopped wearing along with his sword, as if loose hair could help him hide from the hostility and fear of others. His eyes were bright and happy. His lips were curved into the smile that had captured Lan Zhan's heart from the very beginning.
The Wei Ying in front of him was just a boy, not yet tainted by war's harshness and people's cruelty.

He was a god for everyone, and he treated all equally.
His official domain is the god of judgment, he would sit next to the Jade Emperor, watching both gods and humans from heaven, and enact justice on the Emperor's behalf.
No one wanted to get on his bad side.
Wei Wuxian had always felt a certain kinship with this god who shared a similar name to him, albeit with different characters.

“I will take him the letter myself,” Lan Wangji states, voice pitched low and steady. Though it’s an obstinate, unmovable tone that Lan Xichen has heard far too many times before, he can’t help but feel that it’s his duty to put up at least something of a token argument. He can never seem to argue with anyone but Lan Wangji, but even then he almost always ends up bowing out as gracefully as he can under the strength of his headstrong brother’s will.
“Wangji, it’s not safe…”
“Wei Ying will not hurt me.”
“I didn’t say that he would.”
“The Wens are not a threat.”
Lan Xichen sighs heavily and pauses as they reach a landing to close his eyes against the inevitability of his little brother getting to have his way.
