Summary
Yor didn’t bring Anya into this world. As much as that awful, little jealous voice wishes, Anya isn’t half of her; that's a privilege which belongs to her first mother, to Loid’s first wife. Likewise, the privilege of being Loid’s— of really, truly knowing him, beneath all the layers that Yor can tell they both share— belongs with a woman taken from life too soon.
It’s a terrible thing, Yor thinks, to be jealous of a dead woman, and yet she can’t help it no matter how hard she tries. And even as she comes to understand that she can’t stop herself from dreaming impossible dreams, Yor begins to slowly realize she doesn’t really want to. Still, her heart hurts with the shame, and though the logical side of her tells her it’s the exact opposite way to deal with this— well, Yor finally caves one day: she talks to Loid.
Now, if only Twilight could remember the backstory WISE had come up with for this part of Strix...
