Philippe de la Matraque is a pen name of Gabrielle Lawson. Philippe often writes things that she would never write, such as torture-for-torture's sake (instead of torture-for-a-plot's-sake) and romance. And, quite frankly, video games. I guess Gabrielle's a bit of a snob in that regard. Philippe has written works in Star Trek Enterprise, Call of Duty Ghosts, and now Final Fantasy XV. Note: Philippe and Gabrielle do not condone torture or being evil in real life. Leave them in fiction
