Summary
“We haven’t had enough time,” Daisy said softly, staring back at her screen as her Lighthouse room dimmed. She tried to memorize the way May’s eyes crinkled at the corners, the lines around her mouth; the way she looked exactly the same as she always had, even with every line of her gone softer. “I don’t—May, it’s only been—” she laughed, shaky, years blurring together in their warmth and recency.
“I’m not that old, Daisy.”
“I’m not saying you’re old!”
“Really? ‘Cause everyone, lately—”
“Nothing’s allowed to happen to you,” Daisy blurted, suddenly desperate. “You’re—unbreakable, May, you can’t—”
The way May stilled made Daisy’s heart stutter.
“Unbreakable, huh.”
(Or: You know how there's a part of you that still wants to believe in forever?)

Summary
(Title a tongue-in-cheek application of some Taylor Swift lyrics)
Daisy no-last-name was a nobody before she got chosen to be the botanist and mechanical engineer for the Ares III mission to Mars. Finally free from her abusive, no-good ex-fiancé Grant Ward, Daisy throws herself into training and soon enough launches into space and docks with the Hermes for the ten month long trip to the red planet. She's lucky. Her crewmates became her family. The ten months pass in a whirl of laughter, science, and early mornings staring out one of the big windows, watching Earth retreat into the darkness.
And then a massive dust storm. Daisy gets struck by a flying piece of debris. Her biomonitor shows a total flatline. For all intents and purposes, she's dead. Phil Coulson, the mission commander, fighting against high winds as he looks for her, falls in the darkness and rips his knee up. They leave. They have to. And for two long months, all of Earth thinks she's dead.
But she isn't.
Daisy wakes up half-buried in sand, utterly alone, with an injury that should have killed her. And by some miracle, she survives.
(AOS/The Martian crossover. Don't need to have read the Martian to understand.)

Summary
May breathed out a long, slow exhale and nudged into park, staring sightlessly out the window. Her phone pinged with a text. Simmons, probably. Checking in. She wouldn’t trade what they had now for this world or any other, but she missed it, sometimes, the bustling base. Always having something to do, defensible walls.
The text was headed hi May. May stared at it for a long moment, keeping her palms wrapped around the steering wheel. She didn’t feel much like May, right then. Melinda, maybe. For once. Just a woman sitting in her car with an aching thigh and a switchblade in her pocket, feeling every single one of her fifty-two years. Exhausted with not doing a damn thing. She hadn't felt this way in so long.
She felt like Agent May, like she would never, ever be able to be anything else.
May shut her eyes hard and then opened them again. She muted the radio and pulled back onto the road, driving steadily towards home.
Or: May, Coulson, and Daisy, and moments from a day or two in the building of a new life. A story for learning to trust that the good things in your life are going to stick around, and for the days when even those good things are still a little bit hard.

Summary
“Hello?”
“Jessica, hey.” She could hear the relief in his voice even through the phone, maybe a smile. “Are you home?”
She tilted her head, glancing toward her shuttered blinds. He didn’t seem anxious, so she could assume nothing terrible had happened. She answered in her normal deadpan. “Why? You got more ‘doing the right thing’ wisdom to bestow upon me?”
Luke's chuckle filled her chest with warmth. “No, nothin’ like that. Honestly, I think we all could use a break from that.”
“All?”
“Yeah, uh…” he sighed, “Danny came to visit me at Harlem’s Paradise, and he also brought Matt.”
“Hi, Jessica!” Danny, probably standing right next to Luke, cheerfully exclaimed.
