Summary
She isn’t onstage. There is no hollow-eyed audience watching her breakdown, no ensemble of smiling cast members waiting to drag her away.
She’s at Beanie’s. The revelation crashes into her like a wave of applause. Everything is exactly as she remembers it: four walls and windows showing the street outside, a full stock of drink machines and syrups and toppings, and that warm but artificial lighting overhead. There’s even a discarded, slightly-crumpled can of Red Bull in the trash behind the counter, and not a speck of collected dust or cobwebs in sight.
Everything is exactly as she remembers it from six years ago.
“Oh my God.”
