Noa lets the air between them fall quiet again, only speaking once he’s gathered his thoughts. The next question he asks is one Satoru has no idea how to answer. He didn’t even expect him to ask. “Would you have enjoyed it?”

He’s a smart kid. He knows he is young and still has a lot to learn even after everything his father has taught him, but it’s frustrating also knowing that the road ahead of him remains a long one. Satoru is encouraging, never putting him down or making him feel like there is some kind of rush for him to learn everything. It’s a soothing relief amidst the weight bearing down on him.

He’s angry and he’s vengeful and he’s so full of hate that if it were up to him, and if he still had all of his shikigami, he would just let the rest of the world burn then burn himself too.
But then again, he supposes as he looks down at the strong hands that he’s certain look just like his father’s, if he did that then Itadori would be caught in the flames too. And that is a price he is not willing to pay.
