"So... nandito ka because..."
"Because it's been ten years," Aiah says. “And we had a contract."
"Listen, about that-"
"A magically binding contract, Atty. Lim," Aiah continues, pulling something out of thin air. It's the scroll. She unrolls it with a dramatic flourish. The paper glows faintly, shimmering with gold text that Mikha now vaguely remembers from ten years ago. "Signed by you. Witnessed by the universe. Non-negotiable."
"Okay, wait, hold on-"
"Let me refresh your memory," Aiah says, her voice dripping with sarcasm. She clears her throat, reads aloud. "I, Mikha Lim, being of sound mind and body, though questionable judgment-"
"I did not write that!"
"-do hereby promise my firstborn child to Aiah Arceta in exchange for the restoration of internet connectivity during a time of great personal crisis. Namely, the finals of a Call of Duty tournament."
Mikha winces.
Okay. Yeah. That sounds familiar.
Or the one where Aiah is a terrifyingly efficient witch, Mikha is a hopeless romantic disaster, and the contract they agreed on 10 years ago turns out to be the world's most complicated courtship ritual
