Summary
Kravitz didn't want to go through with his arranged marriage. It was nothing personal to his fiancee, but she wasn't his type. Especially since his type was men, which didn't apply to Lup. The night before the wedding, he gets nervous and in order to calm his nerves, he practices his vows in the forest outside of town. What he didn't expect was to accidentally propose to a skeletal hand and end up married to a zombie elf. And what he REALLY didn't expect was to fall in love with the undead man he was bound to in unholy matrimony.

This was the fucking worst.
Sure, he and Lup weren't technically adults yet, but he didn't see why they couldn't live on their own. No, instead they were forced to go live on some ranch owned by an aunt they never even met before. Yeah, if push came to shove Taako could rock the cowboy glam aesthetic, but that didn't make living out in the middle of goddamn nowhere any better. There certainly wasn't any sort of entertainment out here, nothing but goddamn horses.
And if shit wasn't bad enough, Lup had to go get a crush on some dude in bluejeans and cowboy boots. Now Taako was high and dry on his own, with no company for his misery. At least the horses didn't mind listening to his complaints.

Summary
When Kravitz was in 6th grade his school set up a pen pal program, matching them with students who spoke Elvish. It was a simple program, they would write their pen pals letters in elvish as practice, and their pen pals would write them back in common. None of the pairings had lasted until the next year when it wasn't a requirement anymore.
None, except for his and Barry's. They'd been matched up with siblings, a pair of twins.
That had been ten years ago, and Taako and Lup had never stopped writing them. Him and Barry had never stopped responding. He could say with certainty that Taako and Lup were their best friends. So when they mention possibly getting kicked out of their family's home again it's not hard to throw out an invite for the two to come visit some time, if they ever need a place to stay.
Kravitz just wasn't expecting a knock on his door as soon as he put the letter in the mailbox.
