Summary
In between saving the world from Eggman’s dastardly plots and finding himself incredibly bored, Sonic decides to work at the local aquarium. While he surprises himself by actually enjoying his job, this sentiment sours upon being permanently assigned to the new Kraken exhibit, housing a mysterious and frightening creature from the depths of the ocean.
However, Sonic's annoyance soon turns into intrigue as he finds himself sneaking into the aquarium during the late hours of the night, unable to stay away from the strange familiarity the terrifying Kraken possesses….

"But maybe, just maybe, sitting under the rain and trying not to feel afraid, a part of Sonic really was scared. Scared that when he picked up and got going again, everything would blur together, and he’d lose more pieces of who he was. He didn’t want to wander the world as a blank slate with no real direction, just the instinctual desire to run. The cyber corruption would rear its nasty head again, forcing him to push forward, or even worse, slow down when it really counted.
However, for Sonic, to move meant to be alive. It was just as much a part of himself as his love for his friends. Staying here, where it was safe and stagnant would mean betraying both of those things. Even if Sonic’s memory left him once again, he could at least hold onto that."
Or:
Rouge and Shadow are working to find solutions to Sonic's continued memory loss as a result of the cyber corruption. However, when Sonic turns up missing, they have to put those efforts on hold in hopes to find him.
