“Yep, that’s Jake,” Jay had told him once, pausing the accursed video Jungwon had taken of the experience to zoom in on the stranger’s face. “He’s one of Heeseung-hyung’s friends. Don’t know much more than that. Seems cool.”
Standing before Sunoo now, Jake definitely does appear “cool,” in some sense of the word. He’s older than Sunoo – likely a year above him, at least. His stance is relaxed, his expression chipper, and he seems to actually want to be here, which is more than Sunoo can say for his past group project partners. Of all the people he could have been paired with for this final assignment, this certainly isn’t a bad one to land with.
Now if only Sunoo hadn’t drunkenly waxed poetry about the guy’s bone structure to his face at a random party surrounded by multitudes of people.
(alternatively titled: tfw your new photography class partner is a guy you flirted with at a party once)

Prince Charming is a fitting nickname. This guy has the kind of face people would go to war for. Soft features and full lips. Long lashes, but a rugged jaw. Prettily handsome. Handsomely pretty. His hair is the crowning jewel—near perfect locks of tawny brown, obscuring a fragment of his profile. He’s got an arm propped on the hilt of his sword, muttering the words inaudibly to himself as he reads.
A girl rounds the corner, walking past them without so much as sparing a glance. Sunghoon wants to chase after her. Grab her by the shoulders and shake her. That guy has a sword! Can’t you see it? Please tell me you can see it.
(or: sunghoon gets more than he bargained for after falling for what he thought was just an unassuming campus cosplayer.)

Because maybe his date would have gone fine – maybe all of his dates would have gone fine – if he didn’t have to start them off with one big, off-putting disclaimer.
Yeah, so, by the way, I live with my ex, because neither of us can afford to move out and even if we could, we can’t break our lease and lose our damage deposit. He sleeps in the room next to mine, so if you come home with me he’ll hear everything we do, and you will run into him the next morning, because he doesn’t have a job right now and he’s always around.
So. Suffice it to say, Sunoo hasn’t had a date end well – that is, with him getting railed on the cheap mattress he’d ordered the day after he and Heeseung broke up – since he’d put himself back on the market.
Or, Sunoo tries to move forward and move on. The path forward ends up being more cyclical than he'd like it to be.

If there was ever a perfect time, a perfect setting – in a beautiful hotel in a beautiful city under the warm almost-July sun, watching two strangers declare their love for each other, hours before a show where Jake will perform his setlist of songs he’d written about Heeseung, on the tour Heeseung put his whole schedule on hold to join him for – then Jake thinks they’re in it now. If Heeseung pulled away from this kiss, and got down on one knee, and said, let's just have a wedding of our own, then, Jake wouldn’t really be surprised, because he’s used to all his dreams coming true.
or, Jake has planned the perfect proposal. The only problem: Heeseung doesn't know that he's supposed to be a part of it.

Jungwon freezes, turning slowly to look at him, eyes narrowed and burning with rage. “You didn’t think,” he starts, voice dangerously low and full of ire, “That with everything going on right now, you wouldn’t attract attention by fucking Jay Park in an airport bathroom?”
“You don’t know for sure that we had sex,” Sunghoon says coolly, eyes flitting over the magazine and quoting one of the subheadings, “Like you said, we’re ‘madly in love’. It could be a very abstinent love affair.”
or, Sunghoon doesn't break routine for anyone or anything. Enter: two Olympic gold medals, newfound levels of fame, a potentially career-ending injury, and, in the most unexpected twist of all, Jay.
