John was just starting to drift off in bed when there was a knock at the door. He groaned, burying his head into his pillow. God, could Bob not figure out what he needed on his own? He was a grown man, for christs sake. Maybe if he ignored for long enough, he’d go back to his own room. Another knock. John huffed, seriously?
“Bob, go to bed.” John barked back, not saying anything else after. There was silence for a few minutes, before another soft knock, and..was that hiccuping? Jesus, was he crying?
John sighed, throwing his blanket off and getting up. He stomped over to the door—not intentionally, he just sort of walked like that—rubbing his face before opening the door.
“What is it you needed so bad, Bob-“ He paused, seeing his other teammate on the opposite side of his door, eyes watering, face seemingly already wet with tears, “-by.”

Who suggested to go on a multiple hour long drive to go out and bond as a team for the weekend? It wasn’t Bucky, Yelena, Ava, John, or Bob. Who thought this was a good idea? Also not Bucky, Yelena, Ava, John, or Bob. But they all cave anyways. How bad can a tiny roadtrip be?

“But what if I’m too loud? What if you’re busy and I’m botherin’ you?”
They stood across from each other in the kitchen, staring, both wondering how the other had come to the conclusions they’d voiced.
“I couldn’t care less how loud you are, buddy. I mean unless its super late or something, but I don’t ever want you to worry about that— that’s why I’m here, yeah? So you can be loud and rambunctious and I can help you gauge when its time to settle down. And I shouldn’t ever be genuinely busy, because again, I’m here for you. I’m here to pay attention and take care of you. I wouldn’t be doing anything that makes it so I can’t do that.”
“For me.” Steve echoed him near-silently.
“For you, yeah. So go on over there and draw to your heart’s content.” Eddie chuckled, motioning to the living room. “I’ll grab somethin’ for me to do and I’ll be there in a second.”
OR
Eddie puts together a little box of some of his old toys and brings them to Steve, and he spends the day healing that part of him that isn’t used to playing. And for once I didn’t write hurt/comfort I just gave Steve a joyous day its all sappy. And Eddie gets a new book to read— Fantastic Mr. Fox— and Steve’s ecstatic abt it.
