Dazai Osamu is a creature of habit. He thrives off of the predictable, the consistent, and he loathes the concept of change. To change means that something is lost. Something that, more often than not, was something he was fond of. If not fond, then it was something familiar.
He likes familiarity.
He does not like to lose things.

“And I thought you would’ve wanted that.” He grins, but it’s an empty, hollow thing.
Dazai doesn’t have time to react before Chuuya slams him against the wall, the rough brick pressing against his spine. The redhead is breathing heavily, his face flushed from the wine and eyes blazing with emotions Dazai can’t interpret, and with a vicious sort of satisfaction he thinks for a moment that he’s finally done it. That he’s pushed Chuuya too far, that he’s finally going to get what he deserves–
But then Chuuya yanks Dazai down by his tie and kisses him.
Or: five times Dazai waxes poetic about the love of his life, and one time he voices it aloud.

Summary
Regrets were always Dazai’s thing. Chuuya strives forward, doesn’t look back, doesn’t let the past catch up to him any more than he lets Corruption’s bruises halt his momentum. It doesn’t have to change just because he teamed up with Dazai once again.
But it does.
