TW: Bullying, mentions of suicide (but I'll mark those separately when they're happening)
For the past three years, school has been Laura's personal hell. Being bullied by the school's most popular couple, Ell Sheridan and Carmilla Karnstein, and their followers does not exactly make it easy to make any friends in real life, so she leans on her self-proclaimed support group made of internet friends.
The summer break is about to begin and Laura cannot wait to spend two months at the Anglerfish Music Camp, far every from Silas High, her bullies and memories of a long lost friendship.
Absolutely nothing could stop this summer from being the best one of her life.Right?

Summary
You reach your destination when the realization hits you that you have no idea who this person was, who did indeed make your day a whole lot better, and you have no chance to thank her for this small but great gesture. In this moment you also realize that you do not really regret getting on the earlier bus or not waiting for the next subway. You really, really regret not talking to the girl with the notebook.
Aka. the one that was originally based on a real life thing but then turned out to be a way too fluffy fanfiction, in which Laura is deaf and entirely too sweet and Carmilla a little bit less broody than usual.

Summary
You hate the idea of mentoring. All you could tell the kids were that they needed to be impressive and charismatic. Try to get as may sponsors as possible and learn as many survival skills as you can in two weeks. Most of them know how to use an axe already. None of them have survived since you’ve one. In five years you haven’t saved one kids life. You’ve learned to not even bother learning their names. There isn’t really a point because the only people that will is their family. You push your feelings away for two months of the year because that’s the only way you can cope sending kids to their death.
So when you see Laura Hollis being pulled up to the stage, something makes her name stick. Maybe it’s the way she returns a smile when Perry smiles sadly or when she just stared at the crowd. Like she was expecting the punch line. She reminds you of yourself when you got pulled. She looks pissed. The guy doesn’t look much happier. They shake hands and the kid goes back to looking at his feet, but Laura keeps looking at the crowd.
She doesn’t look scared.

Summary
Carmilla's mother won't let her live away at college unless she promises to use an interpreter to help with classes. She's not too thrilled at first--until Carmilla realizes that her interpreter is really, really attractive.
Laura would normally object, but she's dating her lit TA. And bonding over ethically questionable relationships is a good way to cement a friendship with your broody, deaf roommate.
(Deaf!Carmilla AU where Laura and Carmilla realize that dating your TA or a faculty member is a bad idea, especially when they have each other)

Summary
Carmilla decides to move across the country on a whim and forges a totally platonic note-passing relationship with her neighbor.
Or: Carmilla and Laura both have kitchen windows, and these windows happen to be face to face and right up against each other. Carmilla is a shit cook and Laura takes notice, note posting ensues, a bond is formed, we realize that neither of them have any chill, mild angst occurs and is immediately remedied, and the gays bone.
A fantastic read, truly.
Title is taken from the Now, Now song of the same name, it's a banger.
This is also lowkey inspired by that video where Natasha puts on a Midwestern Mom accent. No shame.
