“Colin, what… what happened?” Her voice hitched; the poker she had grabbed to defend against the intruder, forgotten, fell to the floor as she took in his blood-covered frame.
He leaned against the doorframe, his weight heavy, as if the effort of standing was too much. “I had nowhere else to go.”

Penelope took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts and composure. “The Queen wants me to go on a Grand Tour. She wants me to be her eyes and ears in Europe, to report back on the high society there.”
Colin turned away and sat in silence a moment before turning back to her, his voice steady and resolute. “What if I come with you?”
After Penelope reveals herself as Lady Whistledown, the Queen commissions Penelope to go on a Grand Tour, and Colin is determined to accompany her. As they navigate the courts of Europe, they soon see that the Napoleonic Wars had a much more significant influence on Europe than they realised. Summary
Violet Bridgerton has had enough of her three eldest sons refusing to engage with the marriage mart. She has seen her daughters Daphne and Francesca married in the last four seasons but she wants more grandchildren and she wants them now.
And so, in the week before the whole family and ton are due to descend on Aubrey Hall for the annual Hearts and Flowers Ball, Lady Violet has invited a select group of eligible ladies to the Hall to participate in a series of challenges where the ultimate prize is up for grabs: marriage to one of the three oldest Bridgerton brothers. Penelope Featherington is on her fourth year on the mart with no prospects.

Whistledown exists, Colin didn’t make any foolish declarations in the Featherington gardens, Penelope and Eloise are grand. Prudence is still unmarried. This started out as a purely crack fic but I accidentally kept adding plot and making myself cry. There is still quite a lot of crack though. If you crave period accuracy, sorry. I researched some bits with fervour and then hugged an anachronism or two for the giggles.
