Summary
Louis de Pointe du Lac had spent his entire life loving his brother; he'd planned to spend his whole life devoted to helping Paul. That was, of course, before Paul walked off the roof at their sister's wedding. Then, Louis had found someone new to love, someone new to devote himself to. Lestat had given him a new purpose, a new life, in more ways than one. Now, Louis feels chased by his grief and his past, haunted by images of his family. Louis can't figure out if these images are just from whatever's wrong in his head, whatever was wrong in Paul's head, or if he really is being tormented by the demon he now shares a home with.

There it was, that deep sadness in Lestat’s eyes, the one Louis had dreaded seeing since he first recognized it. “The moments you felt alive in your death, felt seen despite our blindness, felt a sense of belonging where we weren’t welcome? All those times, in my arms, when you felt safe while the world stood against us?”
