Summary
"It was you...?" Lan Xichen could barely breathe. He looked confused- worse, he looked genuinely wounded.
"I can explain-" Jiang Wanyin started, taking a step towards Lan Xichen. The elder unconsciously took a step back. Wanyin's expression grew increasingly complicated as well. Did it really pain him that much that Jiang Cheng was the one behind the letters?
"I saved every letter you wrote me," Lan Xichen rasped, voice trembling. "From the moment I read them, I knew you were- no, I thought you..." He stopped in the middle of the sentence, the taste of salt flooding his mouth as tears streaked his face for the first time since Jin Guangyao's death. "I thought you were mine."

In other words, there's a lot of healing to be had following the events at Guanyin Temple. Lan Xichen already heard how Jiang Cheng agonized when they were there, but after Lan Xichen loses his composure in front of Jiang Cheng, can these two frenemies turned confidants finally heal and move forward together?
