What if Renesmee rejected Jacob?
Bella Cullen feels fraught. Her daughter, Ness, has fallen in love with Nahuel, the Volturi are calling for the largest meeting of the vampire world since the 1300s, and Bella has discovered a strange new gift of her own...This is a follow-up to 'Breaking Dawn'. I was always incredibly uncomfortable that Jacob imprinted on a baby and took her away from her family, keeping Edward and Bella from being real parents - I want to show what it would be like for humans to use their free will, and Ness (not 'Nessie', the name Jacob chose for Bella and Edward's only daughter) rejecting Jacob.
I'm keeping to Stephanie Meyer's writing 'voice' as much as possible, so there'll be a superfluity of adverbs and adjectives, and a lot of wincing, flinching, mumbling and chagrin. In the original universe, Bella blames herself for everything, whether she's responsible for it or not. In this book, the triple effect of Ness rejecting Jacob, the effect that Jacob has had on Bella/Edward's marriage and their relationships with the Cullen family, and the fallout from Bella's childhood during which she had to parent Reneé causes Bella to reevaluate her entire life. And not before time, in my opinion!Series

Dastan and Tamina began to bicker about the veil incident, she accused him of giving it a helpful tug just as the wind caught it. They were enjoying their war of words. Aryana and Miran, sitting opposite each other, listened in amusement. She noticed the ceremonial paint on her mother’s arm, smeared by her father’s affections, innocent or otherwise. She was used to their easy passion, often seeing her mother in a state of perfect raiment only to find her an hour later smudged and disarranged.
Aryana gazed at Miran, golden and beautiful, and wondered what it would feel like to have him rub off her paint. She felt a slow warmth spread over her, breath becoming shallow.

This was not going well. Feeling annoyed with him and her own inability to read him like she used to, Tamina spat waspishly, “Do you always do what they tell you?”
Dastan looked down at her with a closed expression. "As third son, I must support my brothers and do what they ask of me."
“I thought a man like you would prefer to make his own decisions,” she goaded him.
With a hard edge to his voice, he said with a sneer, “Don’t make the mistake of thinking you know me, Princess.”
Familiar words which caused her irritation to dissolve in a heartbeat. Tamina couldn’t help it, she smirked and seeing his bemusement she laughed in his face. With her hands clasping the dagger behind her back, she closed the distance between them until their bodies almost touched, looking up at him with a flirtatious challenge in her eyes.
“Oh? And what more is there?” she murmured, her voice like velvet.
“What kind of game are you playing?” he growled.
A 'Tamina remembers/Dastan does not' story.
