"I was wondering..." his father began, "You're not even properly talking to him, but why are you torturing yourself like that?"
He didn't answer, because it sounded as though Masaoka was not yet finished, and he was proven right the next second.
"Since I thought he is, or at least, used to be...um, how do you say it these days?" he hesitated. "Well, a very close friend?"
Ginoza nearly dropped the bottle.
"W-what on earth do you mean – very close?" he inquired, and God help him because Masaoka was wearing an expression that spoke uncomfortableness.

Summary
AU in which everyone is a regular cop. With the death of Saseyama and demotion of Kougami, Ginoza's little habits and weird aversions have only gotten worse. Nonetheless, he finds himself in a bind when "former" friend Shinya Kougami needs a place to live after getting kicked out. Kougami tries to give him space but finds it hard to keep his feelings, and hands, to himself.
