The Pale City is preparing itself for the coming story, and the Hanging Man is not to be a part of it. So he returns home to his mother.
This fic is based off of the theory that the Granny and the Hanging Man are the Lady’s children. Still not entirely sure I believe it, but it makes for a compelling narrative.
