Summary
You ruminate about it while you finish eating, but there’s only one conclusion you arrive to. Isn’t that because Kalim Al-Asim wants it? The stories circulating around him and Viper paint a picture of inseparable friendship, together from cradle to school and work, so it doesn’t sound that far-fetched. That’d mean he asked Viper to stay close to him at all times, wouldn’t it? The image of the ring you see shine on your superior’s finger almost every day flashes in front of your eyes. Viper’s married. He should have a house to return to, one where his wife is waiting for him.
Then was it an order? How people talk about Kalim Al-Asim would contradict that fact, though you’ve never met the guy. You think he could do that though… Well, that’s his prerogative as Viper’s master, but… Is that really how it works? Can someone just deprive another human being of their freedom just on a whim?
Or: You, a new servant, have your doubts concerning your new superior – Jamil Viper – and how he’s treated.

Summary
It's not the flu, Kalim knows that. The doctor didn't tell him anything, but he understands his body enough that he can tell. His head is as heavy as lead and his everything hurts, but it's not the flu. And it's not a poisoning. So what?
There's only one answer and something tells Kalim it's the right one. It's a simple assumption, but it makes everything click in place. Kalim is presenting. That's why no young, non-mated servants are allowed in his room and also why he can hear so many guards outside the room. It's a big event even if the one actually presenting wasn't in the know. There will probably be a big party after all this and he'll be considered an adult.
Or: things start changing yet neither Jamil nor Kalim truly notices it.
