Her skin is—soft.
He doesn’t know why it surprises him. He’s known for most of his life that humans are vulnerable, with no natural plating or armor, but it had never crossed his mind that their skin might not feel like his. He wants desperately for a moment to touch more of her face, to reach around and cup her cheeks in his palms, to trace the implants with the pads of his fingers, to feel her, feel her warmth and her life and cement the fact to himself that she’s alive.
