But most frequent in her nightmares, and something that she would never admit to Callie, was Mark. Mark’s voice echoed endlessly and she could see him holding Sofia and walking away with Callie. And he had apologized but she didn’t think she’d ever be rid of those words.
Because he was right.
That sent her into a fresh wave of tears. Those words ate at her. It felt like they were branded into her very being at this point.
She was nothing. Nothing legally at least. She was Callie’s wife and Sofia’s mother, but that could all disappear in a split second.
Because Mark was the father and she was nothing.

“Was- Is… is his name Tim?”
Callie’s words hung between them for far too many beats and Callie wanted nothing more than to take them back. Arizona’s face fell, her smile fading away, pain clear in her expression. Callie started to reach across the couch for her until Arizona flinched away from her.
Callie couldn’t help but feel hurt that her maybe-girlfriend wouldn’t even let her touch her. But then again, Callie had just lobbed out something that most likely reopened old wounds for Arizona.
“What?” Arizona finally croaked out, her voice thick with the threat of tears. She blinked far too rapidly, her eyes bluer than normal, shining with unshed tears.

It's time to stop walking on eggshells. They needed to talk, and they needed to talk now before everything that had happened swallowed them down and tore them apart.
Callie refused to allow this to tear them apart, after everything they couldn't lose each other too. But she needed Arizona to speak, how could they move past it when Arizona wouldn't even speak of it.
