Draco Malfoy is abruptly and unwillingly called home after spending the last twenty years living and studying abroad. It seems that there are things at Malfoy Manor which need to be put to rest, and the Ministry of Magic has determined that as the sole remaining Malfoy by blood, Draco is the only one who can do it.
But curse breaking is not Draco’s area of expertise, and so the Ministry has found someone willing to help.

As a reminder, the world still hates Reo, and Reo with Nagi most of all. “Mikage, you told me he dumped you!”
When Shidou finds out Reo can copy Sae, Nagi is less than thrilled at him stealing his partner. Nagi pines and Reo doesn’t get it, they both suck at communicating, and Shidou is the world’s worst and most twisted wingman, but Nagi and Reo still somehow find their way back to each other.

Reo’s greatest fear is being a marionette: wooden limbs clacking in predetermined ways, controlled in every sway, only destined to follow someone else's instructions. Then, he meets Nagi, and he imagines cutting away these strings and finally becoming free.
He has to die to realize this isn't the case. That this has never been the case, and that Reo is nothing but a blunt instrument in the hands of fate, meant to guide Nagi to go far from his reach.

Reo hears from Nagi for the first time in two years in an interview.
It's a standard question, really; the host asks Nagi if he has a lover, and like the young, inexperienced football star that he is, Nagi blushes and shakes his head and stammers something naive; something romantic about an old crush, about lingering feelings from a long time ago. He does not mention a name, and he does not say Reo Mikage, but the whole world seems to think he did.
