Wakatoshi sees a figure across the river.
It only takes an instant for him to realise that this person is certainly not of Shiratorizawa, even if he couldn’t sense the otherness that drapes over the stranger, and the wild look in a burnt amber gaze that roots Wakatoshi to the spot.
For one, even hair as golden as that shouldn’t be shimmering in the low light of the thick woods.
Both of them are silent, clearly sizing each other up — Wakatoshi uses the chance to carefully observe the mixture of fur, leather, and leaves that make up the other person’s garments, his eyes pausing for a brief moment on the empty holster around the stranger’s waist, and the dark markings on bared skin, ones he’s never seen on any person.
The quiet breaks with a low, curious hum.
“Yer not supposed ta be here.”
