“You got stabbed?” Lan Wangji can’t quite hide the shock in his voice.
Wei Wuxian ducks his head. “Just a little.”

Summary
Wei Wuxian hadn’t been avoiding Lan Wangji for years, but he hadn’t been not-avoiding Lan Wangji either. There was something awful and awkward about seeing your intended spouse after turning them down that Wei Wuxian just didn’t want to deal with. It helped that he went away for university, and that Lan Wangji went away for university, and they happened to both go to different countries. Wei Wuxian liked to think they both wanted to get as far away from the situation as possible.

So why, then, does Wei Wuxian’s heart skip a beat every time he sees Lan Wangji? And why is adult Lan Wangji so hot? It’s not fair that they could be married and instead Wei Wuxian is awkwardly pining for his former betrothed, a boy he once publicly broke it off with without regret.

“Wei-xiong…? What happened?”
Wei Ying said nothing, pulling on the ends of the ribbon he still wore. Xichen looked like he was going to speak again, but Lan Zhan beat him to it.
“You’re out of seclusion?”
Xichen hesitantly took his eyes off Wei Ying, turning now to his brother, and nodded. “Mn. As of this morning. I expected to tell the pair of you at the lecture, but neither of you came.” He glanced back at Wei Ying, who shrunk into his husband a fraction. “When I spoke to the juniors, none of them had seen you. Sizhui was concerned enough that he asked me to check in on you, so I came here. Wangji, what’s happened?”
“I…” Lan Zhan squeezed Wei Ying; he squeezed back. “I don’t know how to explain.”
Wei Ying’s fingers curled in his robes and Xichen looked at him with such kindness, such familial concern, that he found his voice.
“I… I remembered what happened to me… after I died.”

Summary
Wei Ying has left a hickey on his neck. To any other eye, it will look like a bruise from a fight, but he knows how it got there. He brushes his fingers over it quietly, and thinks, if this is the only way I can keep him with me, I would let him mark me up like a child with a paintbrush and an entire blank wall. If he were in the business of taking people, like so many in our world are, I would let him take me, and I would let him keep me.

Lan Zhan [//Hanguang-jun] isn't one of the best agents in the world for nothing. He would be the best, perhaps, were it not the infuriating and annoyingly hot enigmatic rogue agent [//The Yiling Laozu] who is determined to fight him at every chance they get. And maybe not-fight him too, if one of them remembers the lube. It’s a never-ending dance to crown the victor of their adrenaline-fuelled rivalry.
That is until Lan Zhan is sent on a mission to recover a deadly weapon from one of the biggest crime families in the business—and has to find out whose side the Yiling Laozu is on once and for all.
