Summary
In medieval Japan, sisters Nanami and Yukiji have always been inseparable after the death of their mother and the abandonment of their father. When their lives are further upended by the destruction of their village, a nobleman takes them in as his own with the promise of a better life filled with opportunities never afforded to them before, but at a price. Sophie Hatter, a plain yet resolved young woman, is a governess employed by the eccentric Mr. Pendragon for the sake of his ward, Michael Fisher. Mr. Pendragon is quite a curious man whom Sophie cannot help falling in love with. However, secrets haunt Kingsbury Manor and threaten their happiness.
Instead of the 20 year age gap, Howl and Sophie are the ages they were in the book (26ish & 18).

Tonight, by all measures, was a success. You wore the dress he bought for you, you smiled at him, and you danced with him. The tracker chip is secured. Soon enough the host of tonight's extravaganza will cease to be, and Sylus will get to see you and your fellow Hunters clean up the blood he leaves in his wake. A win-win-win all around.
Really—up until someone tries to assassinate him Sylus is having a great night.

Sylus pretends to be at a loss, stroking one hand over his face. “I hope you know that people who play tricks on me will have to pay up once I catch them,” he says, gaze sweeping over the furniture. “It's not too late. You can come out now, and I'll be merciful.”
