“How about this,” Arri starts, grinning like she’s about to suggest they torture Suzie for pleasure, “whoever gives Suzie her first kiss wins!”
“What? No. No.” This is a terrible idea. Suzie’s face contorts in misery. “No, I’m declining, this is mindless bullying.”
“But, if no one kisses you… you win,” Arri says, sing-songy towards the end.
And… It's so very tempting. Just the word ‘win’ sets something off within Suzie. Some deep, ingrained, competitive, neurotic theatre kid shit. But she has to set some sort of boundaries, she can’t just let people harass her all night for bragging rights.
“Okay, if we bet on it, I’m in,” she decides, taking a sip of her drink.
