Summary
It started out purely out of scientific curiosity. The staring, that is.
The mutations Simon endured, the teeth, the tongue, the extra bones, the scars on top of his radiation poisoning, the blood- it was all so fascinating, and Grace would always be a scientist by heart.
As they got to know each other over the weeks on Erid, it occurred to him that the staring might be strange, and he should probably stop. Simon would squirm when Grace stared too long, and ended up looking at him in turn until Grace got the hint and focused on something else. Above all else, he did not want to make Simon uncomfortable.
It was hard to keep this promise to himself however, because as soon as he'd first seen Simon in his harness framing his broad shoulders and firm, muscled chest, he knew he was a goner.

One day when he was messing with a long-range radio in hopes for it to reach Ardian up on one of Erid's moons, he intercepts something else, something human.
Grace spends a few days talking to this mystery man, Simon, until suddenly there's blip-A next to one of Erid's moons.Or
Grace intercepts Simon's radio waves from the sub, eventually Grace hauls him back to his place to begin a long healing process that totally doesn't include him thirsting over the well-built, black-haired, grumpy man that hides in his closet.

Summary
The blond’s hands are raised up above his head, slowly, like a trail of blood from an open wound, blue eyes set on him from the ground, footsteps cautiously making their way towards Simon’s bed ladder. Simon’s knees come to curl in towards his stomach, his arm going to wrap itself securely around his legs, only for the sensation to never reach them. A quick glance to his empty shoulder, and Simon looks towards the top of the bunk, blinking away the burning in his eyes.
Ryland is approaching him like he’s a rabid dog, and, for once, Simon wishes someone didn’t see him as one that bites.
Simon wishes that he didn’t feel like a ghost walking around in his own skin, anymore. He was so, so tired.
“I’m not an animal,” Simon huffs out, turning his face towards the other human, and Ryland vaguely notes the fact that, in the light, one of his eyes looks a deep, crimson red.
“I didn’t mean to-”
“I know. Nobody ever does.”
OR
Simon has a nightmare, and Ryland has a perfect idea on how to help.
