He trailed off, reluctant to follow a train of thought that would forever lead to a dead end. Pointless, grieving something that could never come to pass. Not in this life. Not in these bodies.
‘Indulge me now, then,’ Suguru whispered.
Satoru isn't anyone's daddy, but for one person only, he's willing to give it a try.

Summary
Suguru and Satoru have been living together since they started at uni, and they've been best friends for way longer than that. With Satoru still in uni, and Suguru working odd jobs, they've found something that's not quite stable, but it's good enough. Eventually, Satoru will leave him behind, but for now, it's easier for Suguru to just stick with him and enjoy the ride.
It's not stable, but it's metastable. It's a little wobbly, but it works. That is, until Suguru discovers something that shatters their shaky equilibrium completely.
