“You have,” Marius declared in a stage whisper, “a crush.”
Raphaella turned to Brian. “Is that another type of fruit? I really thought I had the list memorized.”
Brian laughed. “I think you might be right, Marius.” He stood up, pacing around Raphaella and examining her. Her wings automatically rose up and around her, guarding her face from unwanted eyes. “Tell me, what do you think of Ivy?”
“I dunno, she’s nice?”
Marius joined in the circle around her. “Do you think she’s pretty?”
“Sure? Lots of people are pretty.”
Brian stopped in front of her. “Do you want to hug her?”
Marius scoffed. “Raphaella wants to hug just about everybody.”
“Hm, you’re right. Do you want to hug her especially?”
Raphaella snapped her wings down and back. “You know what that feeling is?”
